Other Key Job Search and Interview Techniques

PUT YOURSELF in the decision maker’s shoes. What is the objective of the planned engagement? What are the wider and/or less evident issues affecting the decision making process?

KEEP any personal statements (physical and verbal!) to a minimum. Decision making surrounding recruiting issues can be very subjective.

EXPECT TO COMPETE! Quality candidates recognise their worth and fight for quality opportunities. Dress sharp, be informed, enthuse and ask relevant questions.

AVOID MAKING simple statements. Promote your strengths by translating your key attributes for your interviewer. E.g, “My interpersonal skills have helped drive up our client base whilst capitalising on other mature business.” Or, “This attention to detail and vigilance has reduced costs of £XYZ across the board - month in, month out”.
