Relay's Boomerang Effect

Returning Executives Strengthen Company. Relay is enjoying the 'boomerang effect', with four senior staff returning in the last six months.

The latest are Sam Crossley and Janet Legg, who arrive after four and two years away respectively.  Sam played a key role in setting up several Relay offices and getting them operating profitably from a standing start before being headhunted by a competitor as business development manager, where she boosted client and candidate numbers.

Feeling she had gone as far as she could there, she decided it was "time to come home" and made contact with Relay about the possibility of a return.

Sam said: "I think it's vital to gain perspective by working for more than one company in your industry.  It proved crucial for me, as I realised the importance of the consultancy approach for clients and individuals and the benefits to company and consultants of a pioneering staff development programmes.

"I feel I can now go as far as my abilities and ambitions allow, rather than ‘hitting the buffers' at some point, then having to move on."

She has been appointed Relay Leeds branch manager, where she has assembled a new team that has proved immediately effective - boosting turnover to beat second quarter targets and doubling the number of staff supplied in just a few weeks.

Among her new appointees is Janet Legg, returning after working for two years in Kent, who will provide support as an account manager.
